Mindfulness and contemplation eliminates unwanted emotions

Observe that as we practice being mindful every day, how mindful can we be. This observation is achieved by gauging desires and passions within our mind, gauging how well we restrain ourselves from that kind of emotions and how well we eliminate those emotions from our mind.

Eliminating these unwanted emotions using mindfulness can be useful to a certain level. The strength of being mindfulness can be use to suppress these unwanted emotions. Nevertheless, using mindfulness cannot totally eradicate these unwanted emotions the way enlightenment can. (With enlightenment -truly appreciating the danger of emotions – emotions can be totally eradicated)* These emotions can still recur when we are not mindful.

As a result (to eradicate unwanted emotions)*, use contemplation to achieve enlightenment. Contemplate things we choose in order to achieve enlightenment. This thing can be our own body. It can be our emotions - desires and passions – which is the cause for all worldly sufferings. Consider our body, contemplate to see that no part of it is substantive. This and any other things that we are emotionally attached to will never last forever. Every part of our body and every substance and emotions in this world will decay with time. This is a natural happening. It is also is true to Dhamma – that everything will be born, get old, get sick and die and turned back into elements of earth, water, wind and fire. Alternatively, contemplate the dirtiness of our body – contemplate that in fact, human body are dirty and disgusting elements combined. There is no substance in this world that is more dirty than human body (and thus this body is not worthy of being emotionally adhered to)*
